Yesterday, I shared with our congregation the first steps of realizing a vision God has next for Generations Church. After hearing recommendations from children’s ministry (KidMin) volunteers and working with our Facilities Team, we’re going to begin work on our children’s ministry facility by the end of April. In fact, we’ve already started installing infrastructure in that part of our education building – things like security cameras, securing KidMin zones with new doors and walls, and WiFi access points.

In addition to the physical remodeling of our facilities, which will begin with the lobby and auditorium space of the former sanctuary and expand to first floor classrooms, our Children’s Ministry Team is reviewing new curriculum and is preparing for an eventual expansion of Bible study and children’s church to include age-specific groups.

Why is that important? This expansion allows us to meet each child exactly where they are in their spiritual journey. A preschool-aged child discovering that God loves them and made them special is very different from helping a 5th grader learn how to live out their faith at school. Age-appropriate discipleship means every child, from our youngest to our oldest, can grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. That’s how we invest in the next generation of Jesus followers.
